Summer Reading Program: CSLP Resources

What is CSLP?

CSLP stands for 'Collaborative Summer Library Program.'  The organization's website describes them this way:

"The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) is a nonprofit, charitable organization that supports literacy, education and science through summer reading events in public libraries across the United States.

CSLP works to develop interest in reading and library use. This includes development and implementation of summer reading programs used nationwide, public service announcements, and other activities which promote reading and library use.

...

The participating systems and states develop a unified and high-quality promotional and programming product. Participants have access to the same artwork, incentives and publicity, in addition to an extensive manual of programming and promotional ideas."

The New York State Library participates in CSLP and provides their materials (manuals, digital artwork, and posters) to public libraries each summer.

Summer Symposium

CSLP's virtual Summer Symposium recordings are now available!  Visit www.cslpreads.org/summer-symposium to view the recorded sessions

Video PSAs

CSLP has not yet released their video PSAs for 2024; they will be linked here when they become available.

These PSAs can be a great tool for outreach and promotion of your Summer Reading Program.  The video files are also made available for libraries to add their own logo/text or if they want to customize the message.

2023 Manual - All Together Now

The CSLP Manual is full of ideas for implementing your Summer Reading Program!

4CLS member libraries should have received the digital version of the manual on a USB drive.  If you didn't receive it, please let Sarah know.

The digital manual can also be accessed online by clicking here.  (The New York State access code is required--if you need that access code, please contact Sarah.)

4CLS also has two print copies of the manual that can be borrowed.  Member libraries can place a hold in Workflows--just search for "Adventure Begins at Your Library"--or contact Sarah at sreid@4cls.org or 607-723-8236, ext. 350, to request a copy.
